Enterprise intelligence series: 1 what is intelligence

I have written several articles about enterprise intelligence sporadically, and there is no climate. I have a lot more free time during this period, and I just use this time to write more articles

when thinking about the first article, the first reflection is to write about what is intelligence. Although this topic is a little academic, everything is from academic to practical. First, go against the world's will and be academic

in fact, there is no clear definition of intelligence in academia. Maybe this is a characteristic of academia. It is best to have no accurate definition. In the discussion of intelligence, most of the proposed definitions of intelligence are related to information knowledge. For example, intelligence is "information used by people" and "information felt and communicated by people"; Intelligence is "knowledge needed to solve a specific problem", "knowledge transmitted on the carrier with the help of language and symbols", etc. After careful analysis, the definition of the concept of intelligence is divided into two schools - "information school" and "knowledge school". The author believes that the definition of "information school" covers a wide range, while the definition of "knowledge school" covers a narrow range. The author basically agrees with the view of the "information school", and believes that it is more appropriate to take the information required by a specific object and call it "the intelligence of this specific object". The information needed by different departments, units or individuals becomes the intelligence of different departments, units or individuals. In other words, different intelligence corresponds to different users. For example, the information needed by scientific and technological departments is called scientific and technological information or scientific and technological intelligence; The information needed by political departments is called political intelligence, as well as military intelligence, economic intelligence, etc

in this case, it is necessary to mention the concept of information. In 1948, Shanon (American mathematician), one of the founders of information theory, first defined "information is the reduction of entropy" in the form of information formula. The "entropy" used here is a measure of uncertainty. Shannon's definition of information actually means that information is "something used to eliminate uncertainty". For 500N models, generally, the object of information generated by single arm (single column) tensile testing machine is used to define information, and it is considered that the characteristics of things make other things perceive through certain media or transmission forms. These signal contents that can be perceived by other things and represent the characteristics of the thing are the information that the thing transmits to other things. Therefore, information is the reflection of the essence, characteristics and motion law of things. Different things have different essence, characteristics and laws of motion. People know the thing through the information it sends, or it is different from other things

some people emphasize the relationship between information and communication, and further formed three kinds of Views: "technical information", which believes that information is the reflection of material attributes, such as the state and mode of things' movement. "Semantic information" holds that information is a mark for people to adapt to the external world and exchange content with the outside world, such as various knowledge and skills. "Value information" refers to knowledge with value, effectiveness, economy and other characteristics, such as all kinds of intelligence

in this way, there are three concepts, the relationship between information, intelligence and knowledge: in order to clarify the relationship between the three, information can be divided into knowledge information and non knowledge information, that is, knowledge is included in information. Now use the following schematic diagram to visually show the relationship between the three,

information knowledge information → intelligence

non knowledge information → from the above schematic diagram, we can clearly see the location of intelligence. Competitive intelligence (CI), which we are most concerned about now, is only a part of intelligence. It generally refers to all the information about competitors and competitive environment that competitors need to maintain competitive advantage, such as the production place and price of raw materials, technical equipment and personnel quality, market strategy, market scope, marketing methods, etc. In addition, it also includes environmental factors, such as political environment, geographical environment, cultural and social environment, and more factories will be established in the future. Broadly speaking, it also includes relevant intelligence activities. Generally speaking, intelligence has three basic attributes: knowledge, transmission and effectiveness are the three basic attributes of intelligence

1) knowledge of intelligence

people are receiving, transmitting and using a large amount of perceptual and rational knowledge at any time through various media in production and life activities. This knowledge contains the information that people need. The essence of intelligence is knowledge. It can be said that without certain knowledge content, it cannot become intelligence

2) the transmissibility of information

the transmissibility of information is inseparable from the use of new materials. Knowledge must also be transmitted in order to become information. No matter how much rich knowledge is stored or recorded in people's minds or in any literature, if it is not transmitted and communicated, people cannot know whether it exists, and if it cannot be used, it cannot become information. The transmissibility of information indicates that information can only be transmitted and used with the help of certain material forms. This material form can be sound waves, electric waves, printed matter or networks, among which the most important traditional is the literature in the form of printed matter, and now the dissemination of knowledge in networks also accounts for a large share

3) the utility of intelligence

transferable knowledge is not all intelligence, only those transferable knowledge that can meet specific requirements can be called intelligence. For example, a large amount of information transmitted through the radio every day is typical knowledge transmitted. But for most people, these broadcast contents are only news and have no actual impact, while only a few people use broadcast contents to study market information and 4 Automatic storage: automatic storage of test data: it can store the experimental data, judgment results, test curves and other conditions of the gas spring according to the production date. For these people, it is called intelligence

in this way, intelligence is actually information with three basic attributes: knowledge, transmission and effectiveness
